WASH Infrastructure

Water,
Sanitation &
Hygiene

WASH Infrastructure initiatives focus on creating functional, sustainable, and institution and community-owned water and sanitation systems. We design and implement solutions such as water supply systems, sanitation facilities, and waste management structures in rural and urban areas.

Emphasis is placed on functionality, maintenance, and local ownership through trained WASH Mitras. By integrating technology, community participation, and long-term maintenance strategies, we ensure that infrastructure remains operational and impactful.

WASH in Schools

WASH in Schools focuses on ensuring safe drinking water, functional toilets, and hygiene awareness among students. We develop child-friendly infrastructure and promote behavior change through hygiene education, including handwashing practices and menstrual hygiene management. Our interventions ensure that schools remain safe, inclusive, and conducive learning environments. By training school staff and engaging students as change agents, we create sustainable systems that improve attendance, especially among girls. Functional WASH facilities in schools directly contribute to better health, improved dignity, and enhanced educational outcomes.

YAG Ltd. has provided renovation and retrofitting support to over 450+ government and 35 Ashram schools across Maharashtra (including Pune, PCMC, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Gadchiroli, Nandurbar, Ahilyanagar, Dhule, Nashik, and Sangola–Solapur), as well as in Bengaluru (Karnataka), Uttarakhand, Rajkot (Gujarat), Telangana, Jammu, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala. In addition, WASH infrastructure support has been extended to transform 34 into smart schools and to develop 23 model Anganwadis in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

WASH in Health Facilities

WASH in Health Facilities ensures that hospitals, primary health centers, and clinics have access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene systems based on the Kayakalp guidelines of Government of India. We support the development and maintenance of infrastructure critical for infection prevention and control. Our interventions include water supply systems, waste management, sanitation facilities, and hygiene protocols. By strengthening WASH in healthcare settings, we contribute to safer patient care, reduced infection risks, and improved health outcomes. Capacity building of staff ensures sustainability and compliance with national health and sanitation standards.

YAG Ltd has supported the strengthening of WASH infrastructure through renovation and retrofitting in 35 healthcare facilities. It has also provided technical support for biomedical waste management (BMWM), capacity building, and behaviour change communication across around 55 health facilities in Pune, Nandurbar, Nashik, and Satara.

WASH in Communities

Our community-based WASH initiatives aim to ensure universal access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene practices. We implement water systems, toilets, and waste management solutions while empowering communities through awareness and ownership. Local youth are trained as WASH Mitras to manage and maintain these systems, ensuring sustainability. We also promote behavioral change through campaigns and community engagement. These efforts reduce waterborne diseases, improve environmental conditions, and enhance the overall quality of life, particularly for women and vulnerable populations.

YAG Ltd contributed to making 114 communities open defecation free (ODF) in Nandurbar through dedicated field-level support. The organization further supported the establishment of 4 Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs) in PCMC, Nandurbar, Visakhapatnam, and Kakatpur, along with the renovation of 65 Solid Waste Processing Centres (SWPCs) across Visakhapatnam and Kakinada.
